So it starts off somewhere saying it been a while since I have posted and update, and that would be true, but at the same time there are other areas online to find content I create daily so it hasn’t actually been a while. My typical go to means of output for videos and pictures daily is Instagram, it’s a means to get instant gratification and a way to share a piece of something I have been working on, even if it’s a minute or less. As I have worked in video production and photography over the years I have worked on hundreds of projects I am not legally allowed to post the content of. I have worked on more productions I don’t feel match the style and quality I prefer to represent myself and my work. That’s not admitting I work on garbage productions for money, that’s admitting I take jobs I am not actively seeking more of. And even then, the projects I do work on and want to post online usually sit in a file on my desktop never to be uploaded to Youtube because I just ran out of time, and moved on to the next job. This is why over the past couple months I have turned more to Instagram to upload short clips of something I like, quick, simple, easy and on to the next job. So check out the Instagram if you want some cool content regularly from me (@ravensend), I also use it to test new gear out or exercise the creative muscles. I spent a week a few months ago doing little one minute long daily vlogs, all edited on my iphone and uploaded to Instagram, it was a challenge but a welcome one (I might try that again with some new tools).
Droning on. This year I finally started doing some drone work. My DJI Mavic is both the best and worst piece of gear I now own, the best because it functions so well, but the worst because I often waste what little free time I have scouting cool locations to film instead of paying attention to the next big project, my film. So the bad isn’t bad really in that I just need to learn a little self-control, and I can’t stop looking up and thinking “whats that look like at a couple hundred feet up”.
The film? I believe I am on the final script revisions and cleaning it up for the last time before casting. The problem I am realizing is that people, places, and things I had planned to be a part of the film have moved on or gone away, so in some areas I will be hitting that reset button and starting new. Other than that things are really taking shape, I have learned a lot about my screen writing style and the direction and tone I will be setting out to achieve. I am, very much so nervous and excited to begin what’s possibly the most important production I have ever run.
Check out the short videos, and I will have some longer format videos up sometime soon, I promise.
Also, if you were following the Texas travel series, we are taking a break from road trips this year, for about nine months or so.
